Kids across the country will hear difficult and traumatic stories about residential schools later this month. Every year on Sept. 30, classrooms mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. From 1831 to 1996, more than 150,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit children were sent to schools that were designed to remove their culture, language and connection to their community.
